Union-Management Dispute Prevention

Relationships between labor and management need to be developed and nurtured.  Preventing disputes between unions and management is worth far more than resolving a dispute after the fact.  Building mechanisms into your relationship and the collective bargaining agreement using a labor-management council is an important step.

A labor-management council would:

  • Meet periodically (monthly/bi-monthly/quarterly) to discuss any outstanding issues and upcoming concerns
  • Resolve or prevent disputes before they become one
  • Helps to maintain or develop relationship between the union and management
  • Could be considered confidential (and possibly privileged) with party consent
  • Meetings would use a QADRE mediator to facilitate discussions and resolve pending issues
